It is said that when the sea calms and the Mizithres rocks are bathed in the golden light of sunset, echoes of a forgotten love whispers through the breeze. But the rocks weren’t always visible above the water.

Long ago, two lovers would secretly meet on this hidden shore, sheltered from the world at the foot of the cliffs. When fate tore them apart, the sea rose in anger and raged for days. From that storm, two mighty rocks emerged—a tribute to a love that could not be silenced.

Ever since, these two solitary Mizithres rocks have gazed upon the blue waters of the Ionian Sea—as if still waiting for the lovers’ return.

Wonders of Mizithres

I mention this image when talking about another of my works, "Rugged Cliffs Elegance". Both photos were taken from the same place—near the cliffside café above Keri. A few steps to the side are enough to change the perspective and witness these two towering rocks rising from the blue depths of the Ionian Sea.

This scene wasn’t easy in post-processing—much like with "Skopos Elevated Beauty". It took me about a year and a half from the day I took the photo to the moment I finally sat down to work on it.

It was a real struggle—for a long time, I couldn’t achieve a result that satisfied me. The raw image was dark and flat, with little to work with. It needed brightening, color enhancement, and careful refinement to become even remotely presentable. Eventually, I got there—but the real breakthrough came when I decided to give it an oil painting effect.

That choice allowed me to smooth everything out and finally consider the image finished. In fact, it was this photograph that marked the beginning of my whole series of photos transformed into paintings with an oil effect—and I’m genuinely proud of the final result.
